2nd try.
a little head that sticks to the glass.
Fresh citrus mixed with a sminch of apple on the nose.
nice copper orange colour.
grassy hops but not as citrussy as you might expect
fresh and easy to drink

Hop Devil Grill 2

Long Trail Imperial Porter

Last glass from the keg....a bit frothy to start with....
Settles to a dark pour with a 5mm head
Nutty roasted coffee that creeps up in terms of flavour it starts mild almost watery up front and then the flavour nicely comes thru...
Nicely covers the tongue at the end of each gulp with a sweet note of nutty goodness
7.5/10

Hop Devil Grill 1

Wolavers organic IPA
Lovely white fluffy head
Golden body
Light nose
(tongue feels a bit burnt from a hot coffee)
Food arrives hmmmm good. Pulled pork
Well it's happy hour......
This is a nice ipa, initially mild but the fruit kicks in towards the end
Worthy of a 7.5

2nd Flight @ Rattle & Hum

Allagash white
Nice smooth banana ... Very little spice

Captain Lawrence pale ale
Kinda like the Brooklyn lager
Full flavoured and malty
Tasted all right with my mini burgers
Which r little rolls with little meat balls in between
Bizarre
Next is I can't quite remember but it's way strong but not an ipa........
So it's prob ???????
It's gettin way busy here @ rattle'n'hum with a Footy game on .... Should come here during the week.... ...........
Last taster is strong too.......
No don't like it either whatever it is
Gridiron is stupid

Rogue Flight @ Rattle & Hum

Trying a bunch of bitters- smooth with a mild bitter finish
Took a while to order food
The rogue red- still don't like this style
Up to the imperial porter-
Wow- coffee/cocoa with a uber bitter finish
Smooth all the same........

Harpoon IPA

Style:US IPA

Rating:6.5

Nice tight fluffy white head.
orange gold body
fruity nose
citrus fruit up front followed by toasted malts
Nice blend of fruityness and malts tho i'd prefer a little more fruit up front
Fairly mild on the bitterness front
Easy to drink all the same.

Anchor Steam Beer

Style:California Common/Steam Beer
Alc %:4.9
Brewery:Anchor Brewing
Country:USA
Tap/Bottle?:ottle
Where/When:New York 09
Cost:$2 approx
Rating:6

Nice foamy white head
browny orange pour
malty nose
clean malty flavour, fairly strong roasted malt but not overpowering- just rich,
Nice and refreshing really
Not familiar with this style but basically just similar to a well made lager - this is more full flavoured than your run of the mill lager.....
Not at all heavy.
This would be a good session beer tho I might tire of the malty/ness.

Two Brothers heavy handed wet hop ipa

Style:IPA
Alc %:5.7
Brewery:Two Brothers
Country:Chicago, USA
Tap/Bottle?:Tap
Where/When:Blind Tiger Ale House, 21/10/09
Cost:$6 approx
Rating:6

Well I asked for that but I got the rye instead- which had that funky Celtic red thing going on - will I get the ipa like I asked? Hmmmm
Yes
Big serve- little head
Lots more malt - really flattens out or makes the citrus hit more mild.
Light on the carbonation
And a little less alcohol @ 5.7% where the otter creek was 10%

First time at the Blind Tiger in the "new" location on Bleecker- Wednesday nite @ 10pm, the place is packed with all sorts of people- not at all conducive to tasting beer in a civilized manner! I beseach you!
It's small & cramped, will have to come back when it's not so busy.

Otter Creek Imperial IPA

Brewery:Otter Creek
Country:Vermont, USA

Where/When:Blind Tiger Ale House, 21/10/09
Cost:$7 for 330ml tulip glass
Rating:6

At 10% abv it doesn't hit you straight away but it doesn't take long! Nice head that leaves a bit of lacing.
Quite bitter straight off actually- a burnt taste up front - the citrus is there but the burnt malt and alcohol seem to dominate- it's not super enjoyable but I keep going back for more.

Lagunitas IPA

nice amber pour with a slight off white head that dissapears.

sweet malted citrus on the nose.
a little juicy/fleshy up front (possibly orange zest), then a little malt and mild bitterness that hangs just a little.
a solid but not outstanding ipa. quite drinkable with a acceptable alc % level.

Nice little head that dissapears.
Nice cloudy amber.
Nice fruity and floral nose-pleasant and sweet.
Fruity (citrus) and juicy....moreish with cold tea and a medium bitterness to finish off with.
Carbonation is good and it's an overall solid IPA just not outstanding.
I give it 6.5/10.

Brewery:Ommegang
Country:New York, USA
Tap/Bottle?:750ml bottle
Where/When:Chelsea 22/10/09

Little head that completely disappears.
Yellow gold colour body- very pale and opaque.
Little spicy clove on the front/tip of the tongue.
Rather than banana it's candy that comes thru next
and a bit of herbaceous coriander that comes thru stronger each sip-
overall a nice witte in a Belgium style.

Photo doesn't do justice to the colour
Red-y orange colour
Nose is faint
Flavour is full & powerful
Sweet and luscious toffee rather than chocolate
Rich but not over powering
Sweet bitterness finish ... Hangs round a little
Not sure I could or should drink alot of this, it remind me a little of port but it would make a nice apertif- to finish off a meal or as a nite cap

Jamieson's The Beast IPA

Style:IPA
Alc %:7
Brewery:Jamieson's Brewery
Country:Australia
Tap/Bottle?:Tap
Where/When:The Local, 3/10/09
Cost:$11 for 575ml
Rating:9/10

Nice foamy white head
Orangey amber colour body
Fruity goodness on the nose
and their it is- that fruity lively taste of summer-
It's a little tart. Sweet and sour in one mouhful- blood orange but with a bitterness on the end that kinda lingers but doesn't distract.
The sweetness up front makes me want to keep on sipping at it.
I really like this tho the bitterness at the end is really surprising me- it's kinda cloying I must say, BUT I keep on going back to it for that initial taste of summer thing it has going on up front.
It's worthy as one of the best IPA in Australia and I'm sorely tempted to get a case for summer....The tart bitterness is really getting full on

Bridge Road Imperial Porter

Style:Imperial Porter
Alc %:8.5
Brewery:Bridge Road Brewery
Country:Australia
Tap/Bottle?:Tap
Where/When:The Local, 3/10/09
Cost:$13 as part of a Flight
Rating:5.5/10

Very dark in colour- almost black
Coffee and alcohol(?) on the nose
Or is it some Shiraz grape or something?
Hot and rich- burnt toffee it's 8.5% so there u go
Maybe it's the coffee or tobacco flavours that are not really doin it for me- it does remind me of tobacco.
Overall not a Porter that I would have again 5.5/10

Mountain Goat Spicy Duck Nuts

Style:Alt
Alc %:7
Brewery:Mountain Goat Brewery
Country:Australia
Tap/Bottle?:Tap
Where/When:The Local, 3/10/09
Cost:$13 as part of a Flight
Rating:5.5

Dark apricot colour.
Some sort of thai spicey fruityness on the nose, could be used as a dressing on a salad if it didn't taste so beery- yeah, it really is a good description of this beer - like someone has put a thai duck salad thru a blender and added it to a beer. Again like nothing I've tasted before- it blows away all perceptions of what a beer should taste like.
Not what I would drink frequently however.5.5/10

Five Islands Barbeerian Wit

Style:Wit
Alc %:4.9
Brewery:Five Islands
Country:Australia
Tap/Bottle?:Tap
Where/When:The Local, 3/10/09
Cost:$13 as part of a Flight
Rating:6/10

Ok so this isn't the pils- it must be the Five Islands Barbeerian Wit- apart from Chimay it's the only wit on the list. It's quite pleasant and mild too. A little spritzy on the tongue and a nice banana note in the middle that lingers nicely. Overall a nice tasty example of a wheat beer. 6/10

Holgate Mt Macedon Pale Ale

Style:Pale Ale
Alc %:4.5
Brewery:Holgate Brewery
Country:Australia
Tap/Bottle?:Tap
Where/When:The Local, 3/10/09
Cost:$13 as part of a flight
Rating:4/10

Wooh toffee honey nose. Nice amber colour.
A smoky musty initial taste- different to what I've tasted before- kinda weird really- there's something that I can't put my finger on that I've tasted but I can't name it.
Overall I don't really like it 4/10

Budvar Czech Pilsner

Style:Pilsner
Alc %:5
Brewery:Budvar

Rating:5/10

Clear clean crisp easy and light tho not very flavoursome.

Flight of 5
